Hunyad Castle was the seat of the Hunyadi dynasty in the 15th century — the family of Matthias Corvinus, king of Hungary. Vlad the Impaler was imprisoned here for seven years before his second reign. Drawbridges, a chapel, a council room with original painted beams, and the strangest spiral staircase in the Carpathians. Less crowded than Bran, more historically interesting.
