Regions
Hunedoara & Hațeg
Corvin Castle, Roman ruins, and a country where dwarf dinosaurs once lived.
About the region
Hunedoara is the gateway to Țara Hațegului — a quiet upland in south-west Transylvania, just outside our main coverage. Corvin Castle (Hunyad) is its star: a Gothic fortress with drawbridges, painted council halls, and a dungeon where Vlad the Impaler spent seven years. Ulpia Traiana Sarmizegetusa, the Roman provincial capital, sits twenty minutes away. The UNESCO-listed Hațeg Country Geopark is the only place on earth where fossils of late-Cretaceous dwarf dinosaurs have been found.
