A small Carpathian travel house

CarpathianStays is run by Christoph and Matei. Christoph is a long-time builder of careful internet things. Matei grew up in Brașov, knows the back roads of the Saxon villages, and has spent years inside the Romanian hospitality world.

We started CarpathianStays because the way most people discover this part of Europe is through a search box, and a search box can only show you what it already knows. The Carpathians are full of homes that have never been listed, families that have never returned a marketing email, villages where the most beautiful guesthouse is the one with no website. We are spending a year visiting them.

Matei was born in Brașov. He spent seven years inside the Romanian hospitality industry — first at TuristInfo.ro, then as a freelance consultant for small hotels in Sibiu and Cluj. He knows the back roads, the legal forms, the difference between a license and an actual welcome.

Christoph runs a small studio of careful internet things from Germany. He has built and operated dozens of independent web businesses across two decades — slowly, mostly alone, occasionally with one of his own children helping with the photos.

We are deliberately small. We will probably stay small. The point is not scale — the point is that you can call us, get an answer the same day, and end up somewhere a search engine would never have sent you.
