The Padiș plateau sits at about 1,300m. Limestone here behaves strangely: rivers disappear into sinkholes and reappear three kilometres later as full waterfalls. The Cetățile Ponorului ("Citadels of the Sinkhole") is a 100-metre vertical chamber where a river falls into darkness. The hike from the Glăvoi parking is a moderate three-hour loop.
